An ode to abo

An ode to abo

Discussing death is a heavy topic. We all recognize its role in life, yet we tend to turn away until it unavoidably confronts us, impossible to ignore any longer. The fateful year of 2014 marked the realization of one of my greatest fears: the loss of my father. This was my first intimate encounter with death, and the surge of emotions left me grappling for understanding. I struggled to process these sentiments, burying them deep within. As time flowed on and my heart aged, wisdom gradually settled in, bringing acceptance with it.

Still, amidst my maturation, somber moments arise when I'm face-to-face with the memories we once shared. Doubts about the reliability of these recollections visit my thoughts, a recurring contemplation. With the passage of years, the act of forgetting gains prevalence. What fragments have transformed with time? Which remains true? Which have evolved?

"An Ode to Abo" stands as a photographic series, a tribute to my father's enduring legacy that also breathes life into my vibrant memories of him. Within its frames reside the teachings he imparted, the values he instilled, the journey of his life, our culture, and the dreams he sowed for my families future. Through this collection, I both recollect and piece together fragments of the vivid memories woven by my cherished late father, capturing his soul for eternity through the medium of imagery.

Through the medium of photography, memories unfurl. Each image a testament, a moment in time. My Abo's stories captured in every frame. In the stillness of a picture, his legacy I portray.
